Lahore: Business community of Lahore and Punjab is demanding the amnesty scheme from government so they can sort out their old disputes.
Businessmen demand amnesty scheme not just limited to the legalizing of the undeclared wealth by paying certain amount to FBR. However, they want a one time amnesty as the favor to large, medium, and small companies in order to ignore the past irregularities.
Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Almas Hyder said that after such offer, the time frame, ranging from 6 to 12 months, is required so that all businesses running on old technology and practices can upgrade their manufacturing units according to the latest standards.
LCCI President elaborated that unregistered business were prepared to get on board. However, they feared about their own past record. He further added that business community was demanding fair enough chance to clean their past record under a one-time amnesty as the government was trying hard to eradicate corruption and widen the tax net.
