The government of Pakistan is much serious about the audit of millions of tax filers in the country.

The tax filers in Pakistan are worried about the audit notices regardless of tax returns. However, Federal Board of Revenue or FBR tried to control the situation. The institution claimed that the government is facilitating taxpayers.

FBR is providing a single time option for closing the audit proceedings due to late filing of returns through the Finance Supplementary (Amendment) Act 2018.

However, over million compliant tax payers received the audit notices in 2018. In several cases, the notice are auto generated, but some are not. Minister of State for Finance, Hammad Azhar, since 2015, several of these people were also selected for the audit notice. However, it wasn’t clear that why they weren’t served notices back then.

Now, in order to the taxpayers facilitation, the current government, provided a one-time option to the taxpayers for closing the audit proceedings due to late filing of returns through the Finance Supplementary (Amendment) Act 2018.
