Prime Minister Imran Khan under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor or CPEC prioritized 4 key areas for the next few years.
CPEC four key areas are prioritized by PM Imran Khan. In addition, he also ordered the groundbreaking of minimum 3 Special Economic Zones or SEZs before July 2019.
PM Imran Khan presided the meeting to review the economic corridor progress. Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar, Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms briefed the participants about the result of 8th CPEC Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting.
M-3 Faisalabad, Dhabeji in Sindh, Rashaki in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one in Islamabad are among the prioritized projects. However, Faisalabad, Dhabeji, and Rashakai will become ready for groundbreaking before July 2019.
The promotion of joint ventures in iron & steel, agriculture, petrochemicals, and food is also decided in the meeting. On Planning Commission’s recommendations, PM Imran Khan approved the development of CPEC Business Advisory Council. However, it will consist Pakistani business executives, representatives of business chambers, and heads of financial institutions to develop the interface with the private sector.
