Thailand lost the WTO dispute over the cigarette imports

Thailand did not comply with the World Trade Organization (WTO) ruling and lost the case.

Thailand lost WTO dispute as it didn’t comply with WTO’s ruling against the cigarette imports regulations. The WTO dispute panel revealed that the initial of the first 2 legal cases given to the Geneva based organization by Phillipines.

However, both sides can appeal against the ruling. In addition, the concerned valuation of imported cigarettes by Philip Morris Thailand Limited from the subsidiaries in Philip Morris in Indonesia and Philipines are among concerned.

Ends Cigarette Smoke Thailand or ECST filed the plea to director of Law and Litigation Department in the Office of the Ombudsman Thailand. They asked to reconsider  the ban on e-cigarettes.
