Vivo has confirmed that the new Y500 model will debut in China on September 1, succeeding last year’s Y300. The upgrade consists of a large 8,200mAh battery, the largest in the history of Vivo phones.
Other than battery life, durability stands out as a major feature. The Y500 also features the highest protection rating against dust, water and hard conditions (IP69 +, IP69, IP68).
It also carries SGS Gold Label five-star certification for drop and impact resistance and has passed military-grade environmental testing. Images released by Vivo show a punch-hole front display and a circular LED-ring flash around the dual rear camera layout. The handset is available in three finishes: Black, Blue, and Violet.
According to insiders, the Y500 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, which has better performance than its Dimensity 6300 chipset predecessor. The phone features an FHD+ OLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a 50 MP primary rear camera with a secondary sensor, and an 8 MP front camera.
Other remarkable features are the 90W fast charging speed, which helps the enormous battery power up fast. It is anticipated that software will be based on the OriginOS 5 operating system based on Android 15, which will provide users with the most up-to-date interface and features.
The Y500 is a clear shot at the people who like a durable phone with a long battery life and will give the user a fresh experience with a high-resolution screen. The launch will also reveal more details such as pricing and availability outside China.
