Punjab to Get 100 New Electric Buses from China

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that 100 modern electric buses have departed from Shanghai Seaport for Pakistan and will arrive in Punjab in the coming weeks.

The Chief Minister stated that another fleet of electric buses in Punjab will also reach the province soon, and by December, the latest service will be operational across every district. She confirmed that the fare for these buses will be set at Rs20 per passenger, making the transport system accessible to commuters.

Maryam Nawaz Electric Bus Project

Maryam Nawaz highlighted that the project will provide a modern, eco-friendly, and affordable public transport system in Punjab, aiming at sustainable urban mobility.

In February this year, Lahore accepted 11 electric buses imported by China, with 27 more buses to be delivered during the pilot project. Lahore electric bus service was launched on 19 February 2025 with electric charging facilities setup at Green Town, Lahore. The buses are equipped to carry 60 passengers per bus.
