Google has officially rolled out the final version of its latest operating system. It brings exclusive AI capabilities and upgraded multitasking tools directly to the users of smartphones.

Google has officially announced the global release of its new operating system. According to the official Google Blog, the update is rolling out immediately to supported Google smartphones, while other major manufacturers will receive the software later this year.

The launch brings significant under-the-hood performance updates alongside the June Pixel Feature Drop, introducing major visual and functional changes for everyday users.

A key highlight of the update is the introduction of advanced Android 17 features Pixel devices can utilize to improve daily workflows. For instance, the system introduces a complete app RAM limitation system that stops background processes from draining your battery life, directly speeding up phone responsiveness during heavy tasks.

Upgraded Multitasking and Screen Tools

Industry tracking reports from Mashable show that the update focuses heavily on giving users more screen flexibility. The system introduces several user interface tools designed for content creation and quick app switching:

  • App Bubbles: Users can now press and hold any app icon to turn it into a compact, floating bubble on top of their screen, making it easier to read notes or check maps while inside other apps.
  • The Bubble Bar: For large-screen foldables and tablets, a dedicated bar sits at the bottom of the display to dock, resize, or instantly maximize these floating windows.
  • Screen Reactions: A built-in screen recorder upgrade allows creators to capture their phone screen while simultaneously recording video from their front selfie camera. This eliminates the need for third-party green screen software.

Powerful Gemini AI and Security Tools

According to the official launch documentation, the update merges deeply with Google’s next-generation artificial intelligence models. Supported devices are gaining access to Gemini Omni, allowing users to completely edit or remix gallery videos using simple text chat prompts.

Additionally, the system includes the Lyria 3 music model, which can generate original tracks with lyrics based on your text descriptions or uploaded pictures.

On the security side, a major anti-theft upgrade called “Mark as lost” has been added to the Find Hub. This feature allows you to lock a missing smartphone using your biometric data. Even if a thief manages to guess your numerical passcode, the system blocks them from turning off location tracking or viewing personal data.

The privacy settings also allow you to grant temporary location access to apps. It also lets you share specific individual contacts instead of your entire address book.
