Since the introduction of new Ajrak number plates in Sindh, the public frustration has taken a new turn concerning long queues, processing delays, delivery issues, and over 12,000 vehicle seizures in Karachi due to non-compliance.
Mukesh Kumar Chawla; Sindh’s Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Minister has therefore aimed to improve such disturbance in Karachi by allowing the Motor Registration Wing at Karachi’s Civic Centre to now operate on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM as well.
The new weekend schedule will help the citizens to receive the most essential services such as motorcycle ownership transfer, car and bike number plates issuance, and paying the registration-related fees.
Excise and Taxation Sindh Director General Iqbal Ahmed Laghari has said that the additional hours will ensure optimality in service delivery and offload Civic Centre staff and infrastructure amidst the growing demand.
The project is part of the department-wide initiative to increase convenience to the people and simplify its operations following the recent difficulties with vehicle registration.
