What Is the Ehsaas Program 8171 Service?
Ehsaas was the name the government used for its poverty relief programmes. BISP's own website now calls its main cash support the Benazir Kafaalat Programme.
8171 is BISP's official number and web portal. You use it to see whether your household was surveyed and found eligible.
What Does NADRA Do in Registration?
BISP's published steps do not include a separate NADRA registration page. Registration happens at the BISP tehsil office.
NADRA's role is your CNIC record. BISP asks people to update details at NADRA before the survey. These include marital status, widow status, and disability. BISP also links to a NADRA page that lists survey centres.
How to Register at a BISP Tehsil Office
BISP calls its tehsil counters Benazir Registration Desks. Follow these steps.
- Check your status first by SMS or on the 8171 portal.
- Update your CNIC at NADRA if your marital status or other details changed.
- Visit your nearest BISP tehsil office and join the queue at the information desk. Disabled persons,
- pregnant women, and senior citizens get priority.
- Show your CNIC, or the CNIC of any family member. Staff will give you a token. You get a new
- survey token if you were never surveyed. You get an update token if you were.
- At the data entry desk, give the CNICs of all household members and the B-Form of every child.
- Answer questions about family members, education, health, assets, and income. Give true answers.
- Give an active mobile number. Keep your token receipt.
ARY News reported that staff also take a thumbprint. It also listed a recent electricity bill among the papers to bring. Carry one to be safe.
How to Check Your Ehsaas 8171 Status
By SMS
Type your 13-digit CNIC number with no dashes. Send it to 8171.
On the Web Portal
Open 8171.bisp.gov.pk. Enter your CNIC and the code shown in the image. Submit the form.
After the Survey
You will get a survey confirmation SMS from 8171. If your household is eligible, you may also get a letter from BISP. You can also visit the tehsil office with an application. Ask for the Assistant Director or the relevant officer.
Who Can Get Payments?
BISP picks families with a poverty score from the survey. The score runs from 0 to 100. The BISP board sets the cut-off based on available funds. BISP's website lists the cut-off as 32. For families with a differently abled member, it lists 37.
Registration does not promise a payment. Only families under the cut-off qualify. If you get an eligibility letter, BISP asks for the CNIC of an ever-married woman in the household.
ProPakistani reported in March 2026 that BISP raised the quarterly Kafaalat amount from Rs13,500 to Rs14,500. Some pages still show the old amount.
Registration Is Free
ARY News reported that BISP calls the survey free of cost. It says any fee is illegal. Trust only SMS from 8171 and BISP's official channels. The BISP helpline is 0800-26477. If a payment agent deducts money, file a complaint at your tehsil office.
