Rockstar Games may bring GTA 6 to PC in the first three months of 2027. That word comes from a new report by GamesBeat, published October 13.
GamesBeat says it spoke to four people with knowledge of Rockstar's plans. None of them were named in the report.
The report says the PC version could arrive between January and March 2027. Rockstar has not confirmed this. The company did not respond to GamesBeat's request for comment.
When is the console version coming out?
GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. Rockstar has confirmed this date. No PC version is planned for launch day.
If the Q1 2027 report is correct, PC players would wait about six weeks at the earliest. If the PC version lands in late March, the wait would be a little over four months.
How this compares to past GTA PC launches
Rockstar has made PC players wait before. Here is how long past games took to reach PC after their console debut:
- GTA 3: October 2001 to May 2002, about 7 months
- GTA: Vice City: October 2002 to May 2003, about 7 months
- GTA: San Andreas: October 2004 to June 2005, about 8 months
- GTA 4: April 2008 to December 2008, about 8 months
- GTA 5: September 2013 to April 2015, about 19 months
- Red Dead Redemption 2: October 2018 to November 2019, about 13 months
If the new report is right, GTA 6 would reach PC faster than any past Rockstar open-world game.
What Rockstar and Take-Two have said
Rockstar has not announced a PC release, a release date, or PC system requirements.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said the company does not usually launch games on all platforms at the same time, according to Sunday Guardian Live.
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said he expects a big jump in viewers at launch. He also said he expects "an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer," per the same report.
Take-Two's next earnings call is set for November 9, 2026. Reports say this call could bring more clarity on PC plans.
Why PC matters for GTA 6
PC players made up a large share of the GTA 5 audience. Analysis from Forbes puts it at about 42% on PC, 35% on PlayStation, and 23% on Xbox.
A PC version also matters to Rockstar's roleplaying community. GTA 5 has a large PC roleplaying scene, built on mods and custom servers.
Rockstar bought Cfx.re, the studio behind the FiveM and RedM mod platforms, in 2023. It is not yet confirmed if GTA 6 will support this kind of mod platform.
What about GTA 6 Online?
Rockstar has not announced a release date for GTA 6 Online.
For comparison, GTA Online launched two weeks after GTA 5, in October 2013. It reached PC on the same day as the GTA 5 PC launch, in April 2015.
What happens next
The Q1 2027 PC window is still just a report. Rockstar has not confirmed it.
Fans may get clearer answers around the Take-Two earnings call on November 9, or closer to the console launch on November 19.
