Apple’s First Foldable iPhone and iPhone 18 Pro Launch Today

Apple holds its biggest phone event of the year today, September 9, 2026. The show starts at 10:00 AM Pacific Time, which is 10:00 PM in Pakistan. You can watch it on Apple’s website, the Apple TV app, or YouTube.

This is also a first for the company. It is the first major product launch led by new Apple CEO John Ternus, who took over from Tim Cook on September 1.

What Apple Is Expected To Show

Reports and leaks point to three new phones:

  • iPhone 18 Pro
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max
  • Apple’s first foldable iPhone

Apple has not confirmed a name for the foldable phone yet. Different reports call it the iPhone Fold, iPhone Ultra, or iPhone Duo. We will know the real name once Apple takes the stage.

The Foldable iPhone: What To Expect

This phone folds like a book. When closed, it fits in your pocket like a normal iPhone. When open, it turns into a small tablet.

Feature Expected Spec
Outer screen 5.4 to 5.5 inches
Inner screen 7.8 inches
Chip A20 Pro (2nm)
RAM 12GB
Storage 256GB to 2TB
Cameras Two 48MP lenses (no zoom lens)
Unlock method Touch ID on the power button
Battery 4,900mAh to 5,800mAh
Price Around $1,999 to $2,299

The frame is expected to be titanium, with a hinge built to hide the crease down the middle of the screen. Early reports also say Apple will only be able to make a limited number of units at first, so buyers may face long waits.

iPhone 18 Pro And Pro Max: What To Expect

These two models keep the familiar iPhone shape but get a faster chip and better cameras.

Feature Expected Spec
Outer screen 5.4 to 5.5 inches
Inner screen 7.8 inches
Chip A20 Pro (2nm)
RAM 12GB
Storage 256GB to 2TB
Cameras Two 48MP lenses (no zoom lens)
Unlock method Touch ID on the power button
Battery 4,900mAh to 5,800mAh
Price Around $1,999 to $2,299

Both phones are said to use a new screen type called LTPO+ OLED. In simple words, this helps the screen use less power, so the battery should last longer.

Price, Preorders, And Release Date

Prices for the new iPhones are expected to start at $1,299 for the Pro and $1,399 for the Pro Max. The foldable phone is expected to cost close to $2,000 or more.

Preorders should open within a few days of today’s event. In-store sales are expected to begin around September 18.

Why This Launch Matters

Apple has never sold a folding phone before. Samsung launched its first foldable phone back in 2019, so Apple is entering this market years later. If the launch goes well, it could push more buyers to try foldable phones for the first time.

It is also a big moment for John Ternus. This event is his first chance to show what direction he wants to take Apple’s hardware in, now that he is CEO.

We will update this story once Apple confirms the real names, prices, and release dates on stage.
