A fire broke out at a K-Electric grid station in Baloch Colony early Tuesday morning. The blaze cut power supply to nearby areas.
Rescue 1122 said the fire started around 4:00 AM. Eight fire engines and Edhi ambulances reached the site soon after the report came in.
Residents said they heard a loud explosion before flames rose from the grid station. They said the fire spread fast, with flames visible from a distance.
Fire crews brought the blaze under control within four hours. Cooling work at the site was still going on as the news broke.
Sources said the fire was likely caused by an electrical short-circuit. No injuries or deaths have been reported so far.
The damage to the grid station cut power to several nearby areas. Residents in these localities went hours without electricity.
K-Electric has not yet issued an official statement on when power will be fully restored.
