Pakistan Resumes Shipping to 7 European Ports to Boost Exports

KARACHI — Pakistan has restarted a direct weekly shipping service to seven European ports. The goal is to boost the country's exports.

Maritime Affairs Minister Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced the move in a ministry statement. He said the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has resumed its premium I-Pak service.

"MSC has resumed its premium I-Pak service, restoring weekly shipping connections to seven European ports," Chaudhry said.

The service links Karachi Gateway Terminal with the seven ports. MSC is a shipping company based in Switzerland.

Chaudhry credited Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited for helping restart the route.

KPT Chairman Rear Admiral (r) Shahid Ahmed said the port is still working to improve Pakistan's shipping system. He said this will help strengthen trade links with Europe.
