Petrol Price Rises by Rs 4.42 to Rs 380.24 Per Litre, Diesel Jumps Rs 6.10

Petrol got hike again today. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) raised the price by Rs 4.42 per litre, effective September 15, 2026. A litre of petrol now costs Rs 380.24.

Diesel went up too. High-speed diesel rose by Rs 6.10 per litre and now sells at Rs 409.42. Diesel prices have climbed for weeks in a row.

The new rates come under the government’s daily pricing system. OGRA moved to daily reviews after fighting in the Middle East pushed global oil prices higher and disrupted supply routes near the Strait of Hormuz.

Under this system, OGRA checks the average international oil price over the past seven days. It also looks at the rupee’s value against the dollar. When oil costs more abroad, or the rupee weakens, pump prices go up here too.

The diesel hike will hit transport costs first. Trucks, buses, and farm machines run on diesel, so a rise here often pushes up fares and food prices later.

For petrol users, the new rate adds a small but steady cost to every fill-up. It may be a good time to plan your fuel budget with this in mind.

OGRA now updates fuel prices every day. That means rates could change again as soon as tomorrow.
