WhatsApp has officially launched its first-ever paid subscription, WhatsApp Plus, for iPhone users in Pakistan. Priced at just Rs 229 per month, this optional plan is designed for power users who want more control over the app’s look and feel without changing the basic free messaging experience.

After successful beta testing on Android, the premium “WhatsApp Plus” tier is now rolling out to a limited number of iPhone users in Pakistan. The subscription is available on the latest iOS 26.17.74 version and is not available for WhatsApp Business accounts. The price of the plan in Pakistan is about PKR 229 per month.

What Features Do You Get?

The Plus plan is focused almost entirely on personalization and organization. It offers

  • Subscribers can choose from 18 different color themes (like Royal Purple, Forest Green, and Coral Orange) that replace the standard green interface.
  • You also get 14 unique app icons for your home screen.
  • While the free version allows you to pin only 3 chats, WhatsApp Plus lets you pin up to 20 conversations at the top of your list.
  • The plan unlocks special animated sticker packs with full-screen effects visible to recipients without the plan.
  • It also adds 10 new premium ringtones such as “Flutter” and “Meadow.”
  • Users can now apply themes or notification tones to entire groups of chats (like all “Work” or “Family” chats) at once, rather than one by one.

What Stays Free?

Meta has confirmed that the core WhatsApp experience is not changing. If you do not wish to pay, you will not lose any existing features. Standard messaging, voice/video calls, and status updates remain free for everyone.

How to Check If You Have It

The rollout is currently gradual. To see if the subscription is available for your account

  • Update WhatsApp to the latest version.
  • Open Settings inside the app.
  • Look for a new “Subscriptions” dashboard

Before the first monthly charge, eligible users may also see a one-week or one-month free trial to test these features.
