About the Rs. 1500 Prize Bond

The Rs. 1500 Prize Bond was introduced by the State Bank of Pakistan on 15 November 1999, as one of several new denominations added that year. It's part of Pakistan's National Prize Bonds scheme, a government savings program that started back in October 1960.

The bond doesn't earn interest. Instead, every bond you hold gets entered into a draw, and you get a chance to win cash. This is why the Rs. 1500 bond stays popular: the entry cost is moderate, the top prize is Rs. 3 million, and your original Rs. 1500 stays safe and refundable at any time, since the bond itself is backed by the government.

Eligibility Rule You Should Know

Not every bond you hold qualifies for the next draw. National Savings only includes bonds that were purchased at least 60 days before the draw date. This 60-day gap is sometimes called the shut period. If you buy a bond today, it won't be eligible for a draw happening within the next two months, it will count from the draw after that.

How to Buy a Rs. 1500 Prize Bond

  1. Visit an authorized commercial bank, an SBP BSC field office, or a National Savings Center.
  2. Bring your CNIC.
  3. Pay Rs. 1500 per bond.
  4. Collect your bond certificate. This certificate is proof of ownership and is needed to claim any prize later.

How to Claim Your Prize

Winners can claim their money at State Bank BSC field offices, designated commercial banks, or National Savings Centers, using the official claim form. You have six years from the draw date to claim a prize — after that, the claim expires. For prizes of Rs. 1 million or more, the bond is sent to the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation in Karachi to confirm it's genuine before payment is released.
