Prize Bonds in Pakistan: Types, Draws, Tax and Claims
A prize bond is a government-issued bearer instrument that gives the holder a chance to win prize money through scheduled draws. You buy it at face value. A draw then picks winning numbers at random. Prize Bond Tax in Pakistan
Prize money is not tax-free. Filers on the Active Taxpayers List pay 15 percent. Non-filers pay 30 percent. This tax is final under Section 156 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. You cannot claim it back.
Premium bond profit is also taxed, under Section 151. Premium bonds are exempt from Zakat deduction. Tax on premium prizes is cut before the money reaches your account.
