Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared an environmental and agricultural emergency in Pakistan, directing both federal and provincial governments to formulate immediate policies.

Flood Losses and Future Action Plan

The Prime Minister stated that a committee under Ahsan Iqbal will oversee the environmental and agricultural emergency. A high-level meeting will be held to assess flood damages in Pakistan and finalize the recovery plan. He confirmed that more than 1,000 people have died in the recent floods and stressed that provinces must play their part in the rehabilitation process.

Pakistan-China and US Partnerships

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted progress on international projects, mentioning China-Pakistan economic partnership worth $8.5 billion and MoUs with the United States in the mining and minerals sector. He said that no negligence or delay will be tolerated in the implementation of these projects.

The federal cabinet, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Petroleum, approved the provision of RLNG connections for pending gas consumers. It also ratified the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan railway feasibility study agreement, signed last month on the recommendation of the Ministry of Railways.
