The federal government implements a major reduction in fuel prices on the third day of Eid, bringing the cost of both petrol and diesel down to the 380 rupees range.
The federal government announced a major reduction of 22 rupees per liter for both petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD).
According to official notifications issued by the Ministry of Energy, the price cut comes as a direct result of falling crude oil prices in the international market.
The revised fuel rates take effect from midnight tonight and will remain applicable for the next seven days across all local filling stations.
Breakdown of the New Petroleum Prices
According to the official retail schedules, the across-the-board reduction pushes domestic fuel prices to their lowest levels in recent weeks.
The updated retail prices per liter include:
- High-Speed Diesel: The price of diesel dropped by 22 rupees, bringing the new rate down to 380.78 rupees per liter.
- Petrol (Gasoline): The price of petrol also decreased by 22 rupees, fixing the new market rate at 381.78 rupees per liter.
Continuous Relief and Market Impact
According to petroleum division officials, this decision marks the second consecutive weekly reduction passed on to consumers. Last week, the government reduced the price of high-speed diesel by 6.80 rupees per liter and the price of petrol by 6 rupees per liter.
Transporter associations stated that the back-to-back fuel cuts on Eid will help reduce daily operating expenses for cargo trucks and public transport vans, which can lower the cost of essential food items and general commuting for the public.
