CPEC 2.0: China Sends High-Profile Business Delegation to Pakistan for Massive Investment Deals

  • The two countries are launching the Pak-China Joint Economic Headquarters to manage digital trade and industrial cooperation.
  • In CPEC Phase II B2B deals will be signed in 21 sectors.

 

Under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a 52-member high-profile delegation of Chinese executives is visiting Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi. This visit will take place between May 8 and May 14, where B2B (Business-to-Business) deals will be signed in 21 sectors.

In addition to private deals, several G2G (Government-to-Government) agreements are also on the table, specifically focused on green finance and sustainable Green Field projects for young entrepreneurs.

The “Joint Economic Headquarters”

To make trade smoother, Pakistan and China are setting up a Joint Economic Headquarters. This hub will focus on several modern sectors:

  • Digital Economy: Managing e-commerce and fintech partnerships.
  • Industrial Integration: Helping Chinese firms move their manufacturing plants to Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
  • The IBI Digital Program: A specific initiative designed to digitize trade and supply chains between the two nations.
  • Tech Integration: Sharing artificial intelligence (AI) and software tools to modernize local engineering and manufacturing

Key Sectors For the Deals

The delegation is not just looking at roads and power plants. They are targeting high tech and essential manufacturing sectors:

  • Electric Vehicles (EVs), solar panel manufacturing, and battery energy storage.
  • Expansion of digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence applications in local industries
  • Textiles, chemicals, engineering, and building materials.
  • Medical equipment manufacturing and pharmaceuticals.
