Petrol Price Drops by Rs. 1.70, Diesel Gets Rs. 1.39 More Expensive 12 August

Petrol is now Rs. 1.70 cheaper per litre in Pakistan. Diesel, on the other hand, has gone up by Rs. 1.39 per litre. Both new prices took effect from August 12, 2026, based on the latest revision by OGRA (the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority).

New Petrol and Diesel Prices

Here’s what changed:

Fuel Old Price (per litre) New Price (per litre) Change
Petrol (Premier Euro 5) Rs. 327.62 Rs. 325.92 Down Rs. 1.70
Diesel (Hi-Cetane Euro 5) Rs. 380.86 Rs. 382.25 Up Rs. 1.39

These are official rates confirmed by PSO (Pakistan State Oil), the country’s main fuel supplier.

What This Means for You

  • Petrol users get a small break. Motorbikes, rickshaws, and private cars run mostly on petrol, so this cut brings light relief to everyday commuters.
  • Diesel users will feel a pinch. Diesel powers heavy transport, buses, trucks, and generators. Even a small rise here can push up transport and goods costs, since so many businesses depend on it.

Why Fuel Prices Keep Changing So Often

Pakistan has moved to a system of daily fuel price adjustments. Under this system, OGRA sets new rates based on how oil prices move in the international market. This is why petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan can change more often than they used to, instead of shifting only once every two weeks.

Note: Fuel prices change often. Always check PSO’s official site or your local pump for the latest rate before you fill up.
