Chinese carmaker BYD is moving from imports to local production in Pakistan. Its local partner, Mega Motor Company (MMC), will start assembling the SEALION 6 in the country from the fourth quarter of 2026.
The news came out at the Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) 2026. BYD and MMC also displayed the brand’s electric and plug-in hybrid lineup, its luxury brand DENZA, and genuine BYD accessories.
SEALION 6: BYD’s First Local Build
The SEALION 6 will be the first BYD car built inside Pakistan. This marks a move away from finished imported units toward local production.
The car runs on BYD’s Super DM-i plug-in hybrid system, the company’s newest intelligent hybrid tech. BYD says vehicles using its Super DM tech have crossed 8.5 million in sales worldwide.
The SEALION 6 mixes electric driving with hybrid backup. It can cover up to 1,100 kilometers between charges and fuel stops.
The system favors electric driving first. It switches to hybrid power on its own, depending on the road and driving conditions.
For buyers in Pakistan, this could mean lower fuel costs and more flexibility on long trips. That matters for drivers worried about finding charging stations between cities.

BYD showed other models at the event too. This included the ATTO 2, which BYD calls Pakistan’s most popular electric car. Also on display: the SHARK 6 Anniversary Edition in Outback Orange, and the DENZA B8.
