Apple’s most affordable new smartphone, the iPhone 17e, will go on sale March 11, 2026, after Apple opened pre-orders on March 4. The company is releasing it globally, with sales in more than 70 countries including the United States, Europe, India and Japan. The device sits below the standard iPhone 17 in price but adds significant upgrades for users who want value and performance.
The iPhone 17e starts at $599 and includes 256 GB of base storage, double that of last year’s iPhone 16e, while still keeping the same pocket-friendly price. The phone runs on Apple’s latest A19 chip, giving faster performance and improved battery life.
It also features a 48 MP Fusion camera, MagSafe wireless charging, and a new C1X modem for quicker cellular speeds. The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display is protected with tougher Ceramic Shield 2 glass. Apple also added satellite services for Emergency SOS, Find My, and Messages when cellular service is unavailable.
Apple says the iPhone 17e will be available in black, white and soft pink, and buyers will have a higher-capacity 512 GB option for $799. The model replaces the iPhone 16e as the entry point in the iPhone 17 line.
Alongside the iPhone, Apple is launching an updated iPad Air with the new M4 chip, promising faster performance while maintaining the same starting prices. Both products are aimed at boosting Apple’s sales in a competitive smartphone and tablet market.
