Government Announces New Fuel Tariff with Cuts of Up to Rs 4.79/L

The government announced late Sunday a cut in fuel prices, offering some relief to motorists and transporters. Petrol now stands at Rs263.45 per litre after a Rs2 decrease, while high-speed diesel has fallen by Rs4.79 to Rs279.65. The new prices take effect Monday, December 1, 2025.

Officials said the latest revision reflects shifts in global oil markets. Earlier assessments pointed to deeper cuts, with estimates suggesting petrol could fall by Rs3.70 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs4.28. Projections also indicated reductions of Rs0.73 for kerosene oil and Rs6.35 for light diesel oil.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), formally known as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, prepared the pricing summary for review by the Petroleum Division and the Ministry of Finance before final approval by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif—an exercise that shapes every fortnight’s fuel adjustment.
