Metso, a global technology provider, has talked of a significant investment and technology delivery plan to the copper mining projects in Pakistan. It was developed after a meeting between Piia Karhu, President of Minerals at Metso Finland and Bilal Azhar Kayani, the Minister of State of Finance and Railways in Pakistan.

In the meeting, both parties discussed investment in the mineral sector of Pakistan with an emphasis on copper mining in Pakistan. Metso will provide advanced mining equipment, supply modern copper mining technology, and train local human resources to strengthen the country’s mining operations. The company also announced that it would be involved in the Reko Diq copper mining project by providing technology solutions and other services.

Minister Bilal Azhar Kayani also emphasized the development of the ML-1 and ML-3 railway lines to ensure the Reko Diq project is activated on time and is scheduled to be completed by December 2028. The Minister was pleased about the interest shown by Metso in the development of Pakistan’s copper mining and its future contribution to the economic activity in the mineral sector.

Both sides settled to have a follow-up meeting with the Ministry of Railways technical staff to progress cooperation and develop plans to invest and supply copper mining technology in Pakistan. The partnership will ensure that Pakistan is well placed in the world of copper production using sustainable mining solutions.
