From October 1, fuel prices in Pakistan are likely to see an upward revision as the federal government evaluates a proposal forwarded by the petroleum sector to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The review is being overseen by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to the summary, the suggested hike includes Rs 2 per litre for petrol, Rs 2.48 per litre for high-speed diesel, Rs 4.65 per litre for kerosene, and Rs 1.76 per litre for light diesel oil.
The final decision will be announced after consultations between the Prime Minister and the finance ministry.
At present, petrol (Super) is sold at Rs 264.61 per litre, while high-speed diesel stands at Rs 272.77 per litre. These rates are subject to change once the government finalizes its review.
