Pakistan IT Exports Hit Record High in First Quarter, Crosses $1.057 Billion

Pakistan’s information technology (IT) exports exceeded $1.057 billion in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2025-26, representing a 20% increase over the same time period from last year. Between July and September, exports rose from $877 million to $1.057 billion, indicating the sector’s forward momentum.

Officials explained that the surge has been facilitated by the involvement of Pakistani IT firms in the Gulf and European markets and by the favorable government measures through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

As per the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), to illustrate, IT exports reached an unprecedented high of $366 million in September 2025, alone.

Experts said that Pakistani IT firms are gaining greater global recognition by providing automation, ERP systems, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence (AI) services. Additionally, freelancers from Pakistan are also contributing to foreign exchange through their international online activities.

Available training programs for young IT professionals and new capacity-building programs that are on the way are developing greater job and business creation for the sector.

With this auspicious start, total IT exports are anticipated to exceed $4 billion for the year, while the government’s goal of $5 billion through the “Uraan Pakistan” initiative is expected to be met.

Meanwhile, in Pakistan’s entire export receipts for September rose to $2.487 billion, compared to $2.556 billion reported in FY 2024, according to the SBP Economic data releases on the second Wednesday of each month on its website.
