Punjab Expands Green Transit: 35 Electric Buses for Lahore

Lahore’s public transport network is set for another eco-friendly boost as the city prepares to welcome 35 new electric buses next month.

An official confirmed that the buses will serve the Canal Road corridor, running from Thokar Niaz Baig to Jallo Mor. The fleet is expected to reach Lahore within a week, while regular service is anticipated to begin in the first week of October.

To celebrate the expansion, authorities have planned an official launch ceremony for the new route.

Currently, there are 27 electric buses already in operation within the city linking Green Town to the Railway Station. The upcoming fleet will also increase accessibility, reduce traffic congestion and provide commuters with a cleaner and sustainable option to vehicles based on fuel.

With these additions, Lahore’s total electric bus count will surpass 60 units, positioning it among the largest electric public transport systems in Pakistan.
