The Federal Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication officially announced the formation of Pakistan’s first National Artificial Intelligence Council. This council will serve as the top body to guide the country toward a digital future. It follows the approval of the National AI Policy 2025 by the federal cabinet on July 31, 2025. This group will manage funding and help create a strong tech environment for all citizens.
Goals of the National AI Policy
The new policy sets a clear target to train one million AI professionals by the year 2030. To meet this goal, the government will offer 3,000 postgraduate scholarships every year to students. These programs focus on building a skilled workforce that can compete in the global market. Official announcements confirm that the council will also support 1,000 research projects to drive local innovation.
Implementation and Economic Growth
The council will manage the National AI Fund to provide support to startups and new products in technology. It aims at introducing 50,000 AI-powered projects in order to enhance public services such as health and agriculture. Through artificial intelligence, the government is expected to increase productivity and generate employment to the younger generation. This systematic practice will keep Pakistan on track to digital economy leader in the region.
