Flour Price in Pakistan 2025 Set to Increase After Wheat Rate Hike

The wheat price in Punjab 2025 has increased by Rs 300 per maund, taking the wheat rate in Punjab today from Rs 2,800 to Rs 3,100, according to market sources.

The Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) Chairman Asim Raza said that the government has not been able to control wheat price in Pakistan 2025 as the Punjab government has deregulated the market. He confirmed that flour price in Pakistan is also expected to rise in the coming days.

In mid-August 2025, the cost of wheat in the open market surged from Rs 2,650 per maund to Rs 3,100 per maund. Following this increase, the retail price of a 20-kg flour bag went up from Rs 1,400 to Rs 1,700 within ten days. Earlier this month, flour mill owners had already raised the price of a 20-kg bag by Rs 50, from Rs 1,350 to Rs 1,400, citing higher procurement costs.

The wheat rate in Punjab today contrasts with the figures recorded in late July when the average price in Punjab stood at Rs 2,470 per quintal (100 kg), roughly equal to Rs 990 per maund. This sharp rise indicates rapid changes in the wheat price in Pakistan 2025.

The situation is closely observed by market experts and flour millers who are studying the tendency more closely since further rise of flour price in Pakistan becomes highly probable in case wheat rates change. Impacts of these changes in wheat price in Punjab 2025 are now even directly on the household budgets and the overall cost of staple food.
