The Karachi city administration has revised the official rates for different types of flour. The new rates bring a major price cut for fine flour but increase the cost of everyday No. 2.5 and mill flour varieties.
The Karachi administration, led by Commissioner Hassan Naqvi, has issued an official notification. It revised the prices of various categories of flour across the city with immediate effect.
According to the newly issued government rate list,
- Fine flour has seen a notable price cut, dropping by Rs 11 to retail at Rs 121 per kg (wholesale fixed at Rs 118 per kg).
- Everyday No 2.5 flour has become more expensive. Its retail price climbed by Rs 6 to hit Rs 113 per kg, and its wholesale rate rose to Rs 110 per kg.
- Locally milled chakki flour has also seen an Rs. 5 increase. Its official retail price rose to Rs 145 per kg.
These new rates are also expected to be reflected in the local tandoor bakeries and bread.
The Commissioner has strictly directed all wholesalers and retailers to prominently display the new official price lists in their shops. He warned that administrative teams will take immediate legal action and impose heavy fines on anyone caught overcharging consumers or violating the notified rates.
