Instagram have gone down for the second time in just a few days, leaving thousands of users unable to send messages or load their feeds. Most complaints point to direct messages failing to load or update, along with slow feeds and login trouble.
So why does this keep happening?
Meta has not confirmed a cause for either outage, and the company hasn’t even acknowledged the issue on its own status page. That’s left users guessing, but no official reason has been given for the repeat disruptions.
As for right now: the outage appears to be resolving, with reports on Downdetector dropping back down as service returns to normal. The disruption itself lasted a couple of hours before easing off.
This is the second such disruption in a short span, and both times Meta has stayed quiet on the “why” so if it happens again, you’re not alone in wondering what’s going on.
