Pakistan Raises Petrol, Diesel Prices as Daily Fuel Pricing Takes Effect

Petrol and diesel prices went up again on Monday, the latest move under Pakistan’s new daily fuel pricing system. Petrol will cost Rs331.20 per litre from August 18, Today, up by Rs5.77, while high-speed diesel (HSD) will cost Rs390.42 per litre, up by Rs6.47. Kerosene also rose, by Rs6.88, taking its price to Rs296.63 per litre.

The new rates come from the Petroleum Division, which now issues fuel prices every day instead of every two weeks. Pakistan moved to this daily system in July 2026, after renewed fighting in the Middle East made global oil prices harder to predict. Under the new rules, prices are set using the average international rate from the past seven days.

Fuel pricing in Pakistan has changed more than once this year. Before 2026, rates were revised every two weeks. That changed to a weekly review after the Israel-Iran conflict picked up again in February. By July, the government moved to daily price updates, a system closer to what many other countries already use.

The switch did not go down well with everyone at first. The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers’ Association had planned a strike for August 15 over the new pricing model. The strike was called off after the government agreed to raise dealers’ profit margins, reportedly by around Rs1.34 per litre.
