An FIR, or First Information Report, is the first written record police make when someone reports a crime. If you filed one, or think one might exist against your name, you may want to check it without visiting a police station. Here is what is actually available right now, province by province.
What Is an FIR?
An FIR is filed under Section 154 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Police register it as soon as they get a report of a cognizable offence, one where they can arrest without a warrant first. Once it is registered, the investigation begins.
Is There One Website to Check FIR by CNIC for All of Pakistan?
No. Pakistan does not have one central site where you type a CNIC and see every FIR linked to it. Each province, plus Islamabad, runs its own police system. Most of these systems are built to give you a copy of an FIR you already know about, not to let anyone search a random CNIC.
Punjab: Police Khidmat Markaz and the Pehchaan App
Punjab Police offers “Copy of FIR” as one of the services at its Police Khidmat Markaz (PKM) centres. To get a copy, you need your original CNIC plus two photocopies, a reason for the request, and the FIR number and police station name. This service is free, and in Lahore it is usually completed on the spot within 5 to 10 minutes.
There is also a separate tool for a different need: checking if a person has a criminal record using only a CNIC. Punjab Police and the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) built an app for this, called Pehchaan. You sign up first, then search a CNIC to see if an FIR is registered against that person. The app’s own description notes that results currently cover Lahore district CNICs and carry no legal value on their own, so treat it as a first check, not final proof.
Islamabad: Copy of FIR Online
Islamabad Police runs an official “Copy of FIR” service that needs your FIR reference number and your CNIC. Only the complainant who filed the FIR can apply. The fee is Rs. 200, processing takes one working day, and you can collect the copy in person or get it by email after verification.
Sindh and Karachi
There is no confirmed public tool from Sindh Police or Karachi Police that lets you search an FIR by CNIC alone. Karachi Police’s main citizen app, Madadgar-15, connects users to police, fire, and medical help using GPS location, it is built for emergencies, not FIR lookup. If you need an FIR copy in Sindh, visit the police station. Where it was filed and ask the Station House Officer (SHO) directly.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)
In June 2026, the KP government launched a package of digital police services. This package includes online FIR registration through a new Police Service Management App. This is new, and it mainly covers filing an FIR, not searching old records by CNIC. For an existing FIR, contact the police station directly.
Who Can Apply for an FIR Copy
In most cases, only the complainant, the person who reported the crime, can request an official copy with their CNIC. If you are named as the accused, or you are a third party, you will usually need a lawyer, or a court order, to get FIR details.

If Your Area Has No Online Option
You can go or call the police station where the FIR was filed. Ask for the SHO or the officer who handles FIR copies. Bring your CNIC either way.

Can someone else check my FIR using my CNIC?
No. FIR copies are meant for the complainant. A third party normally needs legal authorisation or a court order.
Does having an FIR against your name mean you’re guilty?
No. An FIR only means a complaint has been recorded. Guilt is decided later, through investigation and trial.
What if the police say no FIR exists but I filed one?
Ask the SHO for a written reply, or raise it with your province’s IGP Complaint Cell.
