A driving licence is your legal proof that you can drive. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, you can check if a licence is real and still valid in under a minute. All you need is a CNIC number. Here is exactly how to do it, and what to do if the check does not work.
How to Check Your KPK Driving Licence by CNIC
The KP Traffic Police runs the official verification page at ptpkp.gov.pk. Steps:
- Open the driving licence verification page on ptpkp.gov.pk.
- Type the 13-digit CNIC number. Do not add dashes.
- Click Verify.
- The licence details load on the same screen within seconds.
The check is free. No account or office visit is needed.
What Your Result Shows
Once the CNIC matches a record, you will see:
- Name and father’s or husband’s name
- Licence number
- Licence type (Motorcar, LTV, HTV, PSV, Learner, or International)
- Date of issue and date of expiry
- Current status: active, expired, or under process
- The district that issued the licence
Note the expiry date. Driving on an expired licence counts as driving without one under KPK traffic law and can lead to a fine.
Other Ways to Verify a KPK Licence
KP Transport app: download it from the Google Play Store, enter the CNIC, and see the same details along with a photo, right on the phone.
Download the e-Licence: after verification, a soft copy is also available at ptpkp.gov.pk/driving-elicense. Handy if the physical card is lost or not on hand.
New: QR Code on KPK Licences
Since July 2026, KP has added a QR code to driving licences. Scanning it opens the same online record straight away. KP Transport Director Hassan Abid said the change also lets drivers store their licence as a digital copy on their phone, and this digital version is legally valid anywhere in the country. Newer licence cards are already being printed with this code.

A private Motorcar licence does not cover taxi or mini bus work. That needs an LTV licence.

Why Your Check Might Fail
- Remove any dashes and re-enter all 13 CNIC digits.
