Capital Development Authority (CDA) officially introduced its cashless digital transactions system in the Digital Islamabad Initiative by establishing a one-window digital payment system to make it easier to serve the citizens and enhance a transparent system of services.
The project is a significant move to transform Islamabad Pakistan into the first cashless model city in the country, where any payments of CDA services can be made using digital applications based on QR codes (e.g., Easypaisa, JazzCash, and bank applications).
CDA latest news states that the first digital transaction was transacted with the help of Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa at the CDA One-Window Facilitation Centre and this was the official opening of the new system. Citizens can use the system to conduct electronic payments without having to use physical cash. This action will help to increase efficiency and decrease the number of manual errors and transparency of all CDA operations.
CDA cashless digital transactions system is also being expanded to the local markets and weekly bazaar in Sectors H-9 and G-6. The use of QR code payment in key shopping and business centres in Islamabad will become available soon. The authority estimated that the process would take place in phases, meaning that there will be a smooth transition of residents and merchants.
According to the officials, such change will reduce cash-based transactions, fraud and make the process of payments easier. The payment in the digital system of the CDA will give the citizens the choice of the preferred bank or digital wallet.
The recent news of the CDA confirms that the transition of Islamabad to the cashless digital economy is in line with the national objective of Pakistan to promote the use of digital payments and financial inclusion. The authority will in the next phases move all the transactions related to CDA into the cashless system to enhance good governance and transparency within the capital.
