The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the 2025 income tax return deadline to October 31st. The new date gives taxpayers more time to file their returns for tax year 2025. FBR made the decision after requests from traders, business groups, and tax experts. They had reported problems like portal issues and delays in financial data collection.
An FBR spokesperson said the step was taken to support taxpayers. He stated,
“This extension aims to facilitate genuine taxpayers facing technical and documentation issues while ensuring maximum compliance.”
Earlier, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had extended the deadline from September 30 to October 15 (under Circular No. 4 of 2025-26). The new move was made under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
According to FBR data, over 5.06 million people have already filed returns. Last year, by this time, the number was 4.6 million. As now the FBR tax filing deadline has increased, the authority expects more filings this year.
According to the tax consultants in Karachi, the move will help taxpayers and companies complete their filings smoothly. The tax filing deadline Pakistan 2025 gives enough time to handle technical issues.
