FBR Tax Return Help Desks for Manual Filers
According to an official statement, the FBR will set up help desks in all tax offices to support taxpayers filing manual FBR tax returns. Each office will also have a special cell to guide citizens in registration and online filing — completely free of cost.
Legal assistance to the taxpayers is also provided at no cost by FBR field offices. The program is expected to ease the transition between manual and electronic filing and adopt online solutions by taxpayers.
Previously, the FBR suggested to change the Income Tax Rules 2002 to make it mandatory to submit the income tax returns and withholding statements online. The draft is published in Section 237(1) of the Income taxes ordinance 2001 and it is subject to public feedback within seven days of gazette publication.
The FBR tax return initiative is helping Pakistan proceed towards a digital, transparent and efficient taxation regime. The department has the target of enhancing the tax compliance by extending the FBR tax return last date in order to make filing convenient to all citizens using digital tools and nationwide assistance.
