Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has bought Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers completely. This is a big change for Pakistan’s telecom sector. PTCL now owns 100% of both companies. The deal cost about $400 million and the ownership transfer finished on December 31, 2025.
Under the agreement, PTCL will own both entities as subsidiaries while Telenor Pakistan continues operating independently during the transition. Over time, PTCL plans to fully integrate Telenor Pakistan with its mobile arm, Ufone, to create a combined entity poised to become the country’s second‑largest mobile operator after Jazz.
Company officials stated that the acquisition will strengthen PTCL’s market position and expand network capacity. The move also enhances PTCL’s passive infrastructure through Orion Towers’ nationwide portfolio, which supports both 4G and future 5G deployments.
All approvals are complete as per the CEO of PTCL. PTCL is now preparing for the 5G spectrum auction. The company is confident the merged group will be in a strong position to get spectrum licenses and provide better services. PTCL says customers will benefit from improved network quality and wider coverage.
Industry analysts say the consolidation could reshape competition in Pakistan’s telecom sector, enable digital growth and boost investment in advanced technologies.
