E-Challan Karachi System Overview
TRACS E-Challan Karachi system started its operation to reduce manual monitoring with automated one. Jang reported that Karachi Traffic Police issued 1,204,013 challans during the period between January 1 to September 30 2025 which is 4,460/day on the manual system.
In the initial six days of the TRACS system, 26,155 e-challans were issued by the officers, of which the average issue was 4,359 tickets daily, approximately 100 less than the previous one. The authorities indicated that the shift is a representation of the transition phase as the city continues with the expansion of digital enforcement.
The E-Challan Karachi is currently operating on 1,060 high-definition cameras that are placed in certain traffic areas. These are cameras that detect traffic offences such as breaking of signals, violation of lanes and riding without helmets.
The governments will continue to extend the network in all the prominent routes to achieve complete coverage and inaccurate digital challengan transactions.
The Karachi Traffic Police are still implementing the E-Challan Karachi system to enhance transparency and efficiency. The system links the violations with the vehicle registration information, which assists the drivers to access and pay the fines online. In further stages, it is intended that officials will incorporate more payment methods and real-time notification of violations.
