Pakistan Bangladesh Trade and Relations Strengthened with 6 New Agreements

Pakistan and Bangladesh signed six agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in Dhaka during delegation-level talks led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus. The agreements cover trade, education, media cooperation, and cultural exchanges.

Key Agreements Signed Between Pakistan and Bangladesh

  • Abolition of visas for diplomatic and official passport holders

  • Formation of a joint working group on trade

  • MoU between the Foreign Service Academies of Pakistan and Bangladesh

  • MoU between Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS)

  • MoU between the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad and Bangladesh Institute of State Exchange

  • Bilateral cooperation in cultural and academic exchanges

According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan and Bangladesh agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations through these agreements.

Pakistan Bangladesh Trade and Economic Cooperation

The meetings highlighted the creation of a Pakistan-Bangladesh joint working group on trade, investment, and connectivity. Both sides discussed expanding economic cooperation, bilateral trade, and institutional-level collaboration.

During talks, Pakistan announced the launch of a Knowledge Corridor for Bangladeshi students. Under this program, 500 scholarships will be awarded over five years, with 25 percent allocated to medical education.

Delegation-Level Meetings in Dhaka

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar met Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, Commerce Advisor S.K. Bashiruddin, and other senior officials. Discussions covered restoration of historical ties, economic cooperation, youth connectivity, and regional developments.

The commerce meeting was consistent with the attendance of the dignitaries of the Bangladesh government, which included the Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, the Governor of the Bangladesh Bank, the Chairman of the National Board of Revenue and the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan.

The treaties signed in Dhaka will boost Pakistan Bangladesh trade, academic and cultural exchange. Both the countries focused on the role of bilateral cooperation in economic development, sharing of knowledge, and person-to-person connectivity.
