Passengers in Punjab often mix up eTransit e-Wallet and T-Cash card payments. PMTA clarifies how both systems work separately and how to use them safely.
The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) has issued an official clarification about the eTransit App e-Wallet and T-Cash card. Both systems are separate and do not connect. Payments in the e-Wallet cannot be transferred to the T-Cash card and vice versa.
People in Punjab were worried after posts on social media suggested that cash payments and physical T-Cash cards would no longer work, and that everyone must use the eTransit e-Wallet. This caused confusion among commuters, especially those without smartphones or who use T-Cash regularly.
A Breakdown of Both Systems:
eTransit App e-Wallet
- A digital wallet
- Designed for public transport in Punjab.
- Lets passengers plan trips, check live updates, and pay fares.
T-Cash Card
- It is a smart card
- Issued by the Bank of Punjab.
- Can be used to pay transport fares, shop with Mastercard, or withdraw cash from ATMs.
PMTA confirmed that all funds in the e-Wallet are safe, and balances on the T-Cash card remain independent. Users should not expect e-Wallet top-ups to appear on the T-Cash card account.
The authority said this clarification is aimed at improving passenger convenience and transparency. Passengers are advised to rely only on official PMTA sources for updates regarding transit payment options.
