Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has informed that mobile users are now allowed free-calling in their network in the flooded areas. It is a relief measure that will enable the families to remain connected in challenging times.
Telecom infrastructure has been destroyed by floods in most regions. This led to great uncertainties and difficulties in seeking assistance. PTA said restoring communication is a top priority.
So far, over 72% of the damaged telecom sites have been fixed and are working again. Efforts continue to restore the remaining sites as quickly as possible.
PTA ensures that individuals who have faced hardships both financially and physically are not isolated by offering them a free access to the same line. The authority is closely collaborating with the mobile operators to enhance connectivity within the affected areas.
PTA will be updating the public on the progress. This relocation underscores the need of remaining connected in such difficult times and demonstrates further commitment to those affected by the floods.
