The Punjab government has extended the hours of driving license centers across the province, which is a big help for drivers. This will make the process easier for everyone.
Officials said that centers in major cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, will now remain open 24 hours, allowing citizens to apply for or renew their licenses at any time. In smaller cities, licensing centers will remain open from 8:00 am to 12:00 midnight.
A traffic police spokesperson stated that the decision was taken to facilitate citizens and reduce traffic violations, as many fines are issued due to driving without a valid license. The program is meant to make things less busy during peak hours and improve service in general.
Meanwhile, the Driving License Information Management System (DLIMS) has issued updated official fee details. The fee for a learner or first-time license is Rs. 400, while renewal costs Rs. 200. For car or jeep licenses, the fee is Rs. 1,350 with Rs. 675 for renewal. For light transport and commercial vehicles, the fee is Rs. 2,480, and Rs. 1,240 for renewal.
Citizens have welcomed the move, calling it a practical step toward safer roads and better public service.
