Punjab Revenue Authority Collection Hits Record Rs54.8 Billion in July-August

The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) collected Rs54.8 billion in July and August, the highest two-month total in its 13-year history. That’s Rs11.5 billion more than the Rs43.3 billion it collected in the same period last year. PRA credits the jump to its new Special Units and the Large Taxpayer Commissionerate. The authority now has to hit a Rs528 billion target for the full year, after already breaking its own record in the last one.

A Record Year Set the Stage

This isn’t a one-off. PRA collected Rs368 billion in FY26, beating its annual target and posting its highest full-year total ever. That was 36% more than the Rs270 billion it collected the year before, in FY25.

This Year’s Target Is Even Bigger

Off the back of that performance, the Punjab government has now set PRA a Rs528 billion target for FY27. That means the authority needs to collect Rs160 billion more than it did last year.

What PRA Says Is Driving the Growth

PRA Chairman Moazam Iqbal Sipra says digital monitoring and direct payment systems have made tax collection more transparent, and that this has helped push revenue higher. He’s told enforcement teams to move faster on field operations and resolve public complaints without delay, as the authority works toward strengthening tax compliance and enforcement across Punjab.
