US Impose Additional 25% Tariff on India: Overall Tariff Reached 50%

The United States has enforced a 25% additional tariff on Indian products effective today, raising the overall tariff rate on Indian exports to the USA to 50%. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued an official notification confirming the tariff hike.

The increase in US tariffs on Indian products is expected to make several Indian goods more expensive in the American market. Analysts suggest this move may lead to further strain in US-India trade relations.

Earlier this month, on August 6, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that India continues to purchase oil from Russia, which he said supports the Ukraine war. Trump stated that India is not acting as a reliable trade partner and that its imports of Russian oil are fueling the conflict. Based on this stance, the Trump tariff decision 2025 included the imposition of additional tariffs on Indian exports to the USA.

In response, India’s Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar, said that India will continue to buy oil from any country where it is available at cheaper prices, including Russia.

The latest development is expected to impact Indian exports to the USA while adding new pressure to US-India trade ties in 2025.
