The Sui Southern Gas Company reduces gas load shedding by a few hours in Karachi. It is to provide a continuous gas supply for morning meal (Sehri) preparations on the Day of Arafah.
The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a temporary reduction in gas load shedding hours across Karachi. This decision comes in honor of the Day of Arafah.
According to official company notifications, the utility will ensure an uninterrupted gas supply at 3:00 AM on May 26, 2026. It is to help citizens prepare meals for their Sehri for fasting.
SSGC representatives stated that the regular gas shutdown schedule will resume the same day, starting from 10:00 AM on May 26.
Load Shedding on Eid al-Adha
Sources indicate that SSGC is highly likely to continue gas load shedding during the upcoming days of Eid al-Adha.
Industrial areas traditionally shut down during the Eid holidays, reducing overall load on the system. However, the gas company has not yet released any official gas supply timeline or relief package for domestic consumers during the festive period.
Routine Load Management and Affected Sectors
According to official utility reports, Karachi continues to face regular daily gas interruptions under a set schedule. The routine gas suspension periods apply across various neighborhoods:
- Morning Interruption: ~9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Afternoon Interruption: ~3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
- Nightly Suspension: ~10:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning
SSGC officials stated that these measures balance system pressure and maintain supply to priority domestic consumers.
