In light of the growing cases of dengue and malaria in the province, the Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) has issued a notification to all private laboratories to reduce the rates for dengue and malaria blood tests. This measure is intended to ease the financial burden on residents as case numbers continue to climb.
As per the SHCC’s latest notification, the new, discounted pricing will be applicable until December 31, 2025. As a result, the official dengue test price in Pakistan has been adjusted to Rs. 1100 for a Dengue NS1 test, while the Dengue IgM/Combo test will now cost Rs. 1500.
Similarly, the malaria test price in Pakistan reduced to Rs. 600 from its previous Rs. 3050. Furthermore, the CBC test price in Pakistan has been reduced to Rs. 500, down from Rs. 1250. All private labs in Sindh commanded to follow the revised rates.
The order is to be implemented across the province, specifically in the rising cases of Hyderabad. Sindh has reported 26 fatalities till now from Dengue and Malaria and this move was particularly important for public health concerns.
The importance of accessible testing for effective early diagnosis and disease prevention has been highlighted by officials at the SHCC. As a result, laboratories have been directed to not only comply with the updated rates but also to conspicuously display the new prices for dengue and malaria tests in Pakistan for public viewing.
