On November 13, 2025, a huge fire at Lighthouse Karachi broke out in Lunda Bazaar, on the M.A. Jinnah Road. More than 70 winter clothing stalls were burnt down. No casualties reported. Officials managed to contain the fire very quickly, yet the sellers are losing PKR 4-5 crore before the winter.

Fire at Lighthouse Karachi Destroys Over 70 Stalls at Lunda Bazaar

On the morning of November 13, 2025, a fire at Lighthouse, Karachi, went out of control to cover the overcrowded Lunda Bazaar at Lady Dufferin Hospital. The fire began about dawn near a drain near the ancient Manora Lighthouse. Eyewitnesses said that the fire spread fast among the packed wooden stalls.

Law enforcement believes there was a short circuit in a slipper warehouse or one of the stalls. No play- foul has been reported.

KMC Fire Brigade, Rescue 1122, Sindh Rescue, teams of firefighters responded rapidly. The fire lasted about 45 minutes with six fire engines fighting it. The fire did not extend to the surrounding homes and hospital. No one was injured as police controlled the perimeter. The footage by social media depicted the presence of black smoke and flames soaring over stalls.

Losses and Impact on Vendors

Over 70 stalls of winter clothing, footwear, and season products were burnt down in the fire at Lighthouse Karachi. Several merchants had stocked goods on credit of the Shershah wholesale markets. The anticipated losses are estimated to be PKR 4-5 crore. The local merchants have requested the Sindh government to provide them with relief packages. The donations to aid the affected traders are also being organized by community groups.

By November 14, 2025, cleanup operations were underway. No flare-ups were reported. The social media talks about fire safety in the informal markets of Karachi, where it is necessary to ensure proper electrical wiring and expand access roads. The officials are still trying to determine the cause.
