The government has decided to keep milk prices in Karachi stable at Rs 220 per liter for consumers. Farmers and wholesalers will get slightly higher prices, but officials warn against raising prices on their own.
The Commissioner of Karachi issued a notification on Thursday. It sets the price of milk in the city as follows:
- Retail price for consumers remains at Rs 220 per liter.
- Dairy farmers will now get milk for Rs 200 per liter, up by Rs 5.
- The wholesale price of milk has been raised by Rs 3 and is now Rs 208 per liter.
This keeps milk prices steady for buyers, while farmers and wholesalers get a small increase to cover costs. Authorities are watching the market to stop unfair price hikes.
The last price change was on June 13, 2024.
Government Warns Against Unilateral Increases
In October 2025, the Dairy Farmers Association asked to raise milk prices to Rs 300 per liter. The Sindh government rejected the request. Sadia Javed, the government advisor, warned that anyone who increases prices without approval will face action.
She added that milk quality would be checked before any final decisions on price changes. She emphasized that milk is already costly nationwide, and Sindh aims to keep its prices stable for consumers.
